Description
I always love when I find a Floral Photography object that I can beautifully isolate against an attractive background. My last picture of this kind I found in the Boston Public Garden. It is not like the tulip fest in Amsterdam and Boston is more famous for its marathon, but I like living nearby because of its close distance to New England natural habitats and beautiful gardens. I captured this glorious yellow Tulip in the Boston Public garden this morning. Overnight showers provided the raindrops on the floral and added additional interest to this photograph.
right of the sidewalk as one can see in above picture. The contrasting yellow of the spring flower in front of the green lawn and other tulips really stood out and immediately drew me in. The tulip floral that I actually made the main subject showed some real character and was lit by diffused foggy morning sunlight. I set up my tripod and camera and started composing around the yellow flower with my Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS USM lens, 1.4 telezoom convertor and Canon EOS D7 camera. The camera aperture was set to f/11 that resulted in an exposure time of 1/60 second and provided the limited Depth of Field to blur out the other flowers and background nicely. During the post processing I minimally adjusted lighting, contrast and color saturation before sharpening this final floral photography image of "Yellow Tulip".
The tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa, of which up to 109 species have been described and which belongs to the family Liliaceae. The genus's native range extends from as far west as Southern Europe, Israel, North Africa, Anatolia, and Iran to the Northwest of China. The tulip's centre of diversity is in the Pamir, Hindu Kush, and Tien Shan mountains. A number of species and many hybrid cultivars are grown in gardens, as potted plants, or to display as fresh-cut flowers. Most cultivars of tulip are derived from Tulipa gesneriana.
